Opening young eyes to the world
UN Youth Western Australia is a not-for-profit organization of passionate young people run for the education and advocacy of other young people. We believe that in our further internationalizing world that the youth have a larger role to play in affecting policy and creating change. UN Youth Western Australia provides educational and advocacy programs to make this dream a reality.
Some of the canonical events we run every year are State Conference and the (newly renamed) Evatt Trophy Competition. We also run Day Forums to engage students on international issues and policy concerns as well as School Visits in both metropolitan and regional areas.
UN Youth Western Australia is all about opening your eyes to the world so that you can create change. We provide opportunities to discover, criticise and encourage to young people across the state.
UN Youth Western Australia LaunchedUNYA Western Australia is now known as UN Youth Western Australia!
As an organization that is passionate about the voice of the youth today and opening young minds to the world through our educational programmes, UN Youth Western Australia has been chosen as the new name for the organization to reflect better on who we are.
President Harry Midalia said that "this new name is such a positive step for our organisation. It takes away the 'stuffiness' of the older name and actually promotes us for what we are - a collection of youth motivated by the principles of the United Nations."
As to the effect of the change of name, Harry also said that "with this new image, we can better work to engage young Western Australians with the local, national and international issues that matter to them"
Evatt Trophy Competition2012 will mark the first year in which the formerly named Hammarskjold Trophy Competition will now be known as the Western Australian round of the Evatt Trophy Competition.
