The definitive place where UN Youth Western Australia formulates and advocates on key policy issues affecting the youth of Western Australia.

UN Youth Western Australia is fast becoming a paramount organization for youth generated policy on local, national and international issues. UN Youth Western Australia’s policy campaign is our main focus each year, which serves to educate and engage the youth of Western Australia on a specific area of policy, and inspire the youth to make a difference. Youth Motion is another key event that UN Youth Western Australia runs to engage the youth and get a wide-ranging idea on the youth's opinion on policy issues affecting Australia. Youth Motion is being expanded to cover not only State Conference, but become a year-long campaign to find what young people want on the political agenda in Australia.

The 2011/2012 Policy topic for UN Youth Western Australia is Refugees and Asylum Seekers.

UN Youth Western Australia fundamentally believes that the youth of today can and should be powerful participants in political discussion, and it is through our Policy campaigns that we educate, engage and inspire the youth of Western Australia to take action.

In 2011/2012, we plan to do this with a number of Policy events to run alongside current UN Youth Western Australia events and school visits:

Q & A Panel – Our Q & A Panel is designed to engage the youth of WA in politics and policy issues, while empowering them to take their questions to decision-makers. We will invite politicians, NGO representatives, comedians and other Australian personalities to be a part of this panel to discuss Australia’s Refugee and Asylum seeker policy; Refugee and Asylum Seeker rights under the UN Convention; Australia’s role on the international stage and a number of other topics set by the youth of Western Australia.

Youth Publicity Stunt – Art has been a key aspect of social movements in the past, and is an amazing way to engage young people on an issue. UN Youth Western Australia intends to organise a public art stunt with the help of local artists and community groups. The aim will be to make more visible the number of WA young people that are concerned about Refugee and Asylum Seeker policies, thus influencing policy-makers. This aspect of UN Youth Western Australia provides a creative, visually appealing action, designed to attract local and national media attention. It will also give the participants an amazing group experience while further engaging them on the issue of Refugee and Asylum Seekers and youth empowerment.
